THE great Alexandra Whole Town Garage Sale on Saturday, October 10 was a great success. Fifty-two individual sellers took part, along with countless keen shoppers eager to snap up a bargain. On arrival, shoppers were able to purchase a map to the different garage sale locations around the town. The maps were available for $5 with the funds going towards the activities run by the Embassy of Idea. The event celebrates recycling, and provides people with the opportunity to clear out items that they no longer use, and for others to snap up a bargain. There were certainly plenty of bargains to be had, and the sellers reported that they had received a large number of visitors, particularly during the morning. The shoppers came from far and wide, and the tourists also spent money in the town. A huge variety of goods were available, including trinkets, camping goods, furniture, old records, clothes, pictures and tools. Everyone who took part is very much looking forward to next year’s event.
