U3A MURRINDINDI East’s Seniors Week celebrations were a wonderful success, with both a community sing-along and bush dance hosted for locals to attend. The festivities began with the community sing-along at the Alexandra Town Hall on Monday 12 October. About 90 people attended, enjoying a morning of music and singing, followed by a delicious morning tea. The celebrations wrapped up on Saturday night, 17 October, with the Community Spirit Bush Dance at Thornton Memorial Hall. A lively crowd of 79 community members from surrounding areas came together to enjoy an evening of music, dancing and good company; plus a light meal of roast beef in rolls, slices for desert and tea and coffee. Chris, Jennie and Ray from the Blackberry Jam Bush Band kept everyone on their toes, calling the dance steps and encouraging dancers to join in the fun. The bush dance and meal were made possible through a generous grant from Foundation Murrindindi, helping bring the community together for a memorable finale to Seniors Week 2026.
