ON Saturday, October 3, a Musical Showcase was held at Kellock Lodge to celebrate the arrival of a baby grand piano which has been generously donated by a member of the community. Jan Fallon, President of Friends of Kellock and committee, and Steve Paix, brought together a group of very talented musicians who entertained over 100 residents, family and friends for the afternoon. The event provided an opportunity for the community to come together and experience the wonderful sound and presence of this magnificent instrument. Talented musicians Steve Paix, who also did a superb job as emcee, Alyce Platt and partner Nicky Del Ray, Alexandra Primary School students, Steve Silverman, Hannah Weeks, Josie Parsons and Dave Beattie, showcased the piano through a selection of performances, demonstrating the enjoyment and opportunities it will bring Kellock and the wider community. Such an event could not be held without the support of so many members of our committee and community. Thanks to Damien Gallagher for opening the event, to Kellock Board Chair Ian Gibb and Rotary for the marques and chairs needed for the day. The Friends of Kellock committee and Kellock Lodge management and residents extend their heartfelt appreciation to the generous donor for this wonderful gift. The baby grand piano will be a lasting contribution to the musical and cultural life of Kellock, providing inspiration and enjoyment for many years to come. The showcase was a fitting celebration of generosity, community spirit and most importantly the joy of music. The event closed with a group singalong to Waltzing Matilda and I Still Call Australia Home.
