LAST Saturday saw a Mixed Stableford competition replace the scheduled Ambrose event at Yea Golf Club, and what a day it was for Cindy Armstrong. Cindy produced an outstanding 48 points (34) to take the honours and set a new individual Stableford record at Yea. Congratulations, Cindy. It gives all Yea golfers something to dream about, knowing that scores like that are possible. Martin Lowe (19) was an impressive runner-up with 39 points, a result that could perhaps be described as karma after he spent last Tuesday whipper-snipping the creek. Kevin Coghlan (23) was third with 38 points, followed by Luke Gregory (8) in fourth place with 37. Anthony La Grutta (16) claimed fifth with the best of the 36-point scores on a countback. Trevor Connell won the nearest the pin on the 14th, while Michael Willis, visiting from Humpty Doo in Darwin, took home the Club Award. A Big Week Ahead at Yea There is plenty happening at ‘Royal Yea’ this week, with three events on the calendar. Wednesday is an Anti-Cancer Fundraising Day. A Par Three event for both men and ladies will be held, with a shotgun start at 9.30am. Entry is $15 per person, and players are asked to bring a plate to share. Friday is the annual Bruce Kindred Day. Both individual and four ball best ball events will be held, with a 9am arrival for a 9.30am start. Please bring a plate to share. Saturday is Grand Final Day, and a Stableford competition will be held, with a 9am start. It's shaping up to be another big week at ‘Royal Yea’.
