RECENTLY a large crowd gathered at the Yea Bowls Club to farewell much loved life member and past President Leonard Sheahan. Leonard has moved to Mercy Health at Keon Park. A guard of honour was formed in a moving gesture for Leonard as he came forward to receive his departing speech from Club President, Maurie Finn. John Quinlan, representing the Yea Racing Club, also spoke of Leonard’s involvement as Treasurer, and as someone who was always prepared to step up to get things done. Peg O’Connor who recently celebrated her 90th birthday was recognised for her long-time membership and voluntary work including an eight-year stint as Treasurer. Peg was presented with a lovely cake to continue her 90th celebrations. Both Leonard and Peg expressed their appreciation of how welcoming the Yea Bowls Club had made them over the years and the contact with members was a large part of their lives.
