THE fourth annual Peter Grant Memorial Shoot was held at Euroa Gun Club in Violet Town on Sunday, September 13. Peter Grant was a very keen trap shooter and member of the Alexandra Gun Club for over 20 years and was club secretary for seven years until his sudden passing in 2022. The weather was excellent and 40 competitors came to compete a three-event program and remember Peter. The first event was the Peter Grant Memorial event which was a 25 Target Double Barrel Championship. Eight shooters shot possible scores so a shoot-off was held and Daryl Hunt from Wangaratta was the overall winner with a score of 46/46. The second event was the 25 Target Double Barrel Highlands Sheild Championship and six shooters shot possible scores so another shoot-off had to take place. Daryl Hunt was again the overall winner with a score of 62/62. The third event was the 25 Target Double Barrel Highlands Shield Handicap and there were no possible scores recorded. The best score was 24/25 shot off the 23-meter mark by Travis Williams from Colbo Gun Club. The back marker winner was Daryl Hunt who shot well all day. The Highlands Shield was shot over the second and third events between Euroa, Mansfield and Alexandra Gun Clubs with teams of four shooters. The winning team was Al Kidd, Jason Foster, Stephen Wilson and Michael Engel from Mansfield Gun Club with a score of 179/200.
