THE Yea Bowls Club Pennant season commenced last Saturday, October 10, in beautiful conditions with the Yea greens and surrounds looking an absolute picture. Yea were playing East Shepparton and finished with an impressive victory, defeating the Shepparton team 92 shots to 65 overall. On Rink One with skip Terry McInnes, Angela Finn, Wayne Tanner and Barb Tanner, started slowly, but after the first few ends, went on to completely dominate, winning 27 shots to eight. Rink Two had Maurie Finn skip, with Terry Muller, Kevin Smith and Tony Buc. They had a real battle with the lead changing multiple times throughout the game. At the finish, just one shot separated the two teams, Yea 22 to Shepparton 23. Rink Three had Doug Shirrefs skipping, with Rob Marks, Maureen Marks (birthday girl), and Judy Elenius, held a handy lead early in the game. But Shepparton fought back to hit the front by one shot on the second last end. Yea then steadied to get one shot on the last end and draw the game 19 all. Rink Four with skipper Brett Reece, and Darren Sherman, Maree Brennan and Viv Cavanagh, were able to control the game from the start and had a convincing win 24 shots to 15.
