ON Saturday, April 27, an exhibition titled, Let Me Be Myself – The Life Story of Anne Frank was opened at the Alexandra Library.

The exhibition, produced by the Anne Frank House, brings to life the touching story of Anne Frank.

Anne was born on June 12, 1929, in Frankfurt, Germany. Fleeing persecution, her family sought refuge in the Netherlands, where they faced the rise of the National-Socialist party and the introduction of anti-Jewish measures.

The Frank family went into hiding, in the annex of Otto Frank’s office building in Amsterdam.

It was during this time that Anne Frank kept her now-famous diary, capturing both her personal struggles and the historical events unfolding around her.

The exhibition includes eight historical modules that weave Anne’s personal story with the broader context of her time.

Through large-scale pictures, visitors will witness Anne’s joyful childhood in Frankfurt, her immigration to Amsterdam, and her life in hiding.

The exhibition also sheds light on the rise of the national socialists, the Holocaust, and the impact of anti-Jewish measures on individuals like Anne Frank.

Library manager Lisa Nolte thanked the Friends of the Library and volunteers for their help in setting up the exhibition, and said that she hoped that the exhibition would spark conversations.
