ONE of the historic cork trees located at the picnic area at Fernshaw, on the Black Spur, has been felled over the weekend. It had been protected by a fence due to its significance. The tree appears to have been chainsawed, and it fell across a section of the car park. A symbol was carved into the trunk of the tree, as seen below.

There is also damage to the grounds across much of Fernshaw, which appears to have been created by vehicles.

It is not known who is responsible. Police are investigating. If you saw anything, please contact the local police.

Last week the juniors went out to see the recent control burns in Marysville.
