Murrindindi vaccination rates too low

MURRINDINDI is falling behind in the vaccination race, likely due to limited availability in the early stages of the vaccine rollout. Compared to our neighbouring shires, Murrindindi has the third lowest percentage of first dose vaccinations.

The Federal Health Department provided the following data, based on Medicare address.

As at Sept 5:

MURRINDINDI: First dose 64.4%, second dose 39.8%. Population aged 15 and over = 12,242.

MANSFIELD: First dose 72.2%, second dose 39.8%. Population aged 15 and over = 7567.

ALPINE: First dose 72.0%, second dose 45.6%. Population aged 15 and over = 10,732.

YARRA RANGES: First dose 59.6%, second dose 36.2%. Population aged 15 and over = 129,169.

NILLUMBIK: First dose 70.7%, second dose 46.9%. Population aged 15 and over = 52,476.

STRATHBOGIE: First dose 70.5%, second dose 46.9%. Population aged 15 and over = 9174.

MITCHELL: First dose 57.5%, second dose 36.6%. Population aged 15 and over = 36,387.
