President’s Day at Yea Bowls Club

THE annual President’s Cup was played at the Yea Bowls Club on Saturday June 1.

Although it was officially the first day of winter, the sun was shining, creating a bright atmosphere for the playing of this event, which the president, Leif Elenius, introduced four years ago.

Sixteen players filled the ranks with four games of eight ends played during the afternoon.

The competition was very close with no-one winning all four games.

Those who have only recently joined the club were able to play confidently against players with more experience, due to the individual’s handicap, allowing an even scoring system.

The winner of the day, winning three of his four games with an overall score of +18, was Rob Marks.

The official presentation of trophies for the President’s Cup and the Club Champions then took place before the president’s choice of the evening meal, catered for by Judy Murfin and Teresa Clue was served.
