Success for Yea locals in show group finals

CENTRAL and Upper Goulburn Agricultural Societies Group of which Yea Agricultural, Horticultural and Pastoral Association, is a member, held their annual group final on Sunday April 23 at the Exhibition Shed at Seymour Showgrounds.

Numerous Yea Show winners and representatives competed in this VAS and Group Level Final after winning the corresponding class at the last Yea Show.

Yea representatives were competing against potentially the winners from Alexandra, Heathcote, Kilmore, Kyneton, Lancefield, Lilydale, Mansfield, Seymour, Sunbury, and Whittlesea Show Societies.

Representatives from Yea were in the categories of the Rich Fruit Cake, Carrot Cake, Knitted Beanie, Knitted Baby’s Garment, Crochet Toy, Handmade Card, Piece of Hand Beading, and Plain Sponge.

Yea was successful in a number of these categories.

Viv Cavanagh placed second in the VAS Ltd Cross Stitch, Helen Hildebrand was second in the Plain Scones and Megan MacAlpine received a second for her Knitted Coat Hanger and her one page of Scrapbooking.

Success came for Yea with Jessie Bishop winning the VAS Ltd Open Photography section with a magnificent Gypsy cob horse trotting in a pine plantation.

Jessie will now send this photo in the Animal/s in Action category to compete at the State Final to be judged at the 2024 Melbourne Royal.

Also successful, was Claire Noonan in the Junior Ambassador Award. The Junior Show Ambassador is for……
