Yea Bowls Club hosts initial round of national BPL Cup
YEA Bowls Club took on the task of hosting an initial role of the BPL Cup last Saturday, May 30. Thirty-six players, 12 teams, competed for the honours to go through to the next round. The national final will be played in Brisbane in November.
Annual UFO Meeting at Highlands Hall for Yea Yakkers
LAST weekend saw the Yea Yakker’s annual UnFinished Objects (UFO) Meeting at the Highlands Hall. Running across both Saturday and Sunday, the event is in its 20th year and gives people the opportunity to work in a group setting on unfinished projects, including quilting, cross stitch, embroidery, etcetera.

NINETY-five year old Pat Jane was the youngest of eight children, but sadly the twins passed away. Pat said, “I had a very lovely mum (Lucy) and dad (Jim Walker) and siblings. I was told I was quite spoiled, but I didn’t protest about that.”
Truck show ready to roll on June 7
THE 29th annual Alexandra Truck, Ute and Rod Show will be held on Sunday, June 7, during the King’s Birthday long weekend. Organiser Andrew Embling said that this year’s show is “looking to be about the same size as last year, but you never know, we just might get a few more trucks come along.”
Deer harvest report 2025: Alexandra ranks in most popular hunting areas
THE Game Management Authority (GMA) last week released the Estimates of the 2025 deer harvest in Victoria report, which showed an estimated 158,500 deer were harvested by recreational hunters last year; down from 167,600 in 2024 and 66 per cent above the long-term average of 95,400 since 2009.
