The bushfire at Gaffneys Creek is not yet under control and has now burned 580 hectares of land. The fire is burning in complex and steep terrain, with crews working around the clock. They are using heavy machinery to build containment lines on the ground and aircraft to directly attack the blaze.

There is an Emergency Warning – Leave Immediately warning in place for the area surrounding the A1 Mine Settlement. Two Watch and Act – Monitor Conditions as They Are Changing warnings are also in place to the north and south of the Emergency Warning.

Crews are monitoring the bushfire at Trawool, working to extinguish hot spots and strengthen containment lines.

A Watch and Act – Monitor Conditions As They Are Changing warning remains in place for the area.

Today will be hot and dry across Victoria, with temperatures set to reach 38 degrees in the north, 32 degrees in the south, and high 20s near the coast.

Tomorrow, most of the state will have an elevated fire danger with gusty winds and moderate to locally heavy rainfall possible, which may lead to flash flooding.

Early preparation is the best defence against storms. Visit the VICSES website for tips on how to prepare today: ses.vic.gov.au
