Alexandra Community Wood Auction

THE Alexandra Community Wood Auction is set for Saturday, May 24, starting at 10am at the bottom end of Bayley Street, near the Embassy of Ideas.

Organiser Andrew Embling said, “We do it every year. It’s a community event.”

At the moment, there are about 19 trailer loads of wood registered, from groups including Acheron CFA and hall, the Australian Deer Association, Alexandra Fire Brigade, Alexandra Scouts, Koriella CFA, the Alexandra Kindergarten.

Andrew explained, “Community groups just need to bring their wood in. We sell it. They get the money. It’s a great community event. All of those organisations get some money to put aside for themselves going forward.”

People are welcome to go along and watch, or to get in on the bidding. If people are the successful purchaser, the organisation will deliver the wood for them.
