Yea bowlers have fun on President’s Day

YEA Bowls Club President’s Day is an annual free event instigated by late former President, Leif Elenius.

The format for the day is a handicap event which gives every player a very good chance to win. Everyone plays four games of six ends.

The weather was fine. The rinks and the games were very close indicating the handicapper got it pretty right.

In just his first season of bowls, Kevin Smith was the overall winner and he was thrilled to collect the trophy.

Congratulations especially to ‘Smithy’, and to all participants for their keen participation.

The day didn’t finish there. Following the games, Maureen Marks conducted a trivia contest on general knowledge which was loads of fun.

The presentations for the club championship events for singles and pairs were a further highlight of the day.

The men’s singles champion was Jeff Green. The ladies singles champion was Viv Cavanagh. The men’s pairs champions were Cliff Sinclair and Maurie Finn, and the ladies pairs champions were Angela Finn and Barb Tanner.

The President’s Day is an opportunity for the club to say thanks to all the members who help to make the club run smoothly and an enjoyable place to be.
