A big weekend of football and netball action: AFNC junior sports round-up

IT was a busy Sunday for the Alexandra Football Netball Club (AFNC) junior athletes, with a full day of football and netball across several age groups.

At home, the under nine, under 10, and under 12 football teams faced off against Wandong. The local crowd turned out in strong support, cheering on the young footballers as they battled hard on the field.

Meanwhile, in netball, the under 13 and under 15 teams played a competitive match against each other.

Also at home, the under 14 footballers took on the Shepparton Swans.

Further afield, AFNC’s under 16 footballers made the trip to Kialla to take on Tongala. Despite the travel, the team put in a solid performance with only 17 players.

Under nine

Awards: Essence Coffee Award, Jude Nardella; HBI Constructions Award, Ryan Kirley; Footy Cards Awards, Corbyn Hayes and Teague Welsh.

Under 10

Awards: Phil Savage Award, Tahj Parker; Essence Coffee Lounge, Joey Creed; Footy Cards Awards, Bodhi McKenzie and Louis Hill.

Under 12

Alexandra 0.2-2 defeated by Wandong 16.9-105

Awards: Essence Coffee Lounge, Harry Winch; Reddrops FoodWorks, Beau Nash; Alexandra Bakery and Café, Mason McKenzie; Coaches Award, Logan Kerr.

Under 14

Alexandra 9.14-68 defeated Shepp Swans 1.3-9
