Livestock handling workshop at Yea Saleyards

THE Victorian Farmer’s Federation (VFF) Stock Sense department held a livestock handling workshop last Wednesday at the Yea Saleyards.

Around 30 people attended the workshop, which ran from 9.30am to 2pm and included lunch and tea and several guest speakers.

Stockyard design specialist Mark Bennett opened the event, speaking about how to design yards for best practice with stock handling.

FarmSafe keynote speaker Dom Thurbon spoke about farm safety from the perspective of behaviour and science, and Jack Briscoe did a low stress livestock handling demonstration in the saleyards.

Participants asked insightful questions and shared their own experiences along the way, leading to strong engagement and a like-minded community conversation.
