TREVOR (63), a Marysville local, is planning to push his barrow all the way to Canberra. It’s a matter of life and death as he’s raising funds for mental health and suicide prevention among Australia’s tradespeople.

In Australia, a tradie is lost to suicide every four hours. “These are the real statistics no one gets to hear about,” Trevor said.

His mission is deeply personal, stemming from a moment of despair 25 years ago. While on a construction site, Trevor faced a crisis which led him to put a nail gun to his head and pull the trigger. Fortunately, a safety mechanism saved his life, giving him a second chance, a chance that so many others never get.

Now, Trevor is using his voice to speak up for those who can’t. He believes that while he is just one person, together the community can make a significant impact.

His walk, pushing a wheelbarrow, symbolises the heavy load many tradies carry in silence. He hopes to spark a national conversation and create better opportunities for tradespeople to seek help and communicate openly about their struggles.
