ADH welcomes graduate nurses through unique city-country program

ALEXANDRA District Health (ADH) is once again proudly partnering with Eastern Health (EH) to deliver its distinctive Graduate Nurse Program, now in its seventh year.

This innovative 12 month program offers newly registered nurses the opportunity to gain valuable experience across both metropolitan and rural healthcare settings.

Participants spend six months at Eastern Health’s busy metropolitan hospitals and six months immersed in acute care services at ADH.

The goal is to provide a well-rounded introduction to nursing, equipping graduates with the skills and confidence needed to thrive in a variety of clinical environments.

At ADH, the program supports new nurses as they transition from study to professional practice in a welcoming and supportive setting.

Each graduate is paired with a dedicated nurse preceptor and has access to the Training and Development team.

Graduates also attend study days at Eastern Health to reinforce their learning and development throughout the year.

Currently, graduate nurses Rebecca and Teagan are completing their rural rotation at ADH. Rebecca chose the program specifically to gain rural experience, sharing that living and working in a country community is part of her long-term plan.
