THE Alexandra and District Pony Club held its much-anticipated annual camp on September 21 and 22 with riders, families, and horses gathering at the club’s home grounds for a weekend of activities, laughter, and learning.
Saturday afternoon saw children jump straight into mounted games led by instructors Nicky Embling and Sally Hill.
With a mix of team challenges and individual timed games, the atmosphere was filled with excitement and friendly competition.
As the sun set, riders turned their attention to caring for their horses, setting up yards, tents, and swags, and a few lucky campers enjoyed the comfort of caravans.
Once horses were fed, families gathered around a table full of nibbles and had a cold drink before tucking into a hearty dinner of burgers, generously donated by Sam from Thornton Butchers and Deli.
Gav skilfully fashioned an old hollow stump into a brilliant campfire, which set the scene for a relaxed evening and was perfect for toasting marshmallows too.
Despite Sunday’s grey skies, the children’s spirits remained high as riders saddled up for a few more lessons with instructors.
Sarah guided riders through showjumping, Nicky set up fun obstacles, and Liane led valuable flatwork sessions. The mix of learning and fun made for another successful and memorable pony club camp for all involved.
