ALEXANDRA Bowls Club has three sides in the Goulburn Murray Region 2025-26 Pennant Season which began with last Saturday’s division five having a good win over Rushworth. Alexandra was promoted to division three after winning the division four grand final last season and travelled to Eildon.
Midweek pennant played Shepparton Park. The club has been very fortunate to receive support from Fallon’s Bus Group who have provided a bus for the Saturday pennant away games. The club is incredibly grateful for this support.
Throughout the past month the club has held many functions. The most recent was for Life Member Terry Livy’s wake.
Terry was a long serving, much respected club member who held many positions. He was a past secretary, pennant selector and on tournament committees just to name a few. He will be greatly missed. The Board and all members offer their condolences to Roselyn and her family.
Mid-week played away to Shepparton Park and were defeated across the three rinks. Christine Mayfield who is skipping for the first time in midweek had the best result.
Her team of Clive Murphy, Craig Parkinson and Denice Chisholm lost 16 to 20. They won 10 ends out of the 21 including a five shot pick up on end eight. They led 11 to six on end nine and were up 13 to 10 on end 13 but Shepparton Park won five of the last eight ends to win.
The Shepparton Park rink was skipped by Garnet Eastment, a former Alexandra player.
Ken Argent (skip), John Blamey, Ian Franklin and Anne Gunton won eight ends. It was five all early in the game but the opposition pulled away to lead 10 to 23 on end..
