CLUB games are providing some excellent bowling and competitive matches. Alexandra Bowls Club women’s singles final was completed last Friday and Lauren Gilchrist defeated Christine Mayfield. Christine led 18 to 17 after 20 ends but Lauren won the next five ends to win 26 to 18.

The game took 25 ends before Lauren clinched the win. It is three singles championships in a row for Lauren. A great effort. She will now go on to the GV Playing area Champion of Champions to be played on March 1and the finals March 8.

Several matches have been completed in the men’s singles. Ian Harper defeated Bob Mayfield. Greg Gilmore defeated Dave Nicklos in a close game. Ken Argent defeated Graeme Matthews in a game that lasted 27 ends. All winners now go through to the next round.

In other games Roselyn Livy won through to the next round of the President’s Handicap when she defeated Peter Collyer. Ian Harper will contest the State Singles at East Shepparton on Sunday, December 14 and the club wish him good bowling

Meanwhile Pennant continued to produce challenges for all Alexandra sides. Midweek pennant travelled to Violet Town and were defeated across all rinks.

Saturday Division Three pennant was a wash-out and the points were shared with Eildon. Division Five travelled to Euroa and despite winning two out of the three rinks they lost the overall.

Midweek was unable to back up their win from the previous week. They lost the overall to Violet Town 40 to 79. Tim Langmead (Skip), Ken Argent, Craig Parkinson and Denice..
