Funds raised to send Levi to race in New Zealand

WHAT began as a casual idea over a beer quickly grew into a full‑scale fundraising auction, brought to life by the lively and quick‑witted Peter Molloy.

His fast‑paced humour and infectious energy turned the evening into a standout event that organisers will be talking about for years.

Backed by an Individual Sponsorship Grant from Murrindindi Shire, along with generous contributions from the Rotary Club of Alexandra, Lions Club Eildon, and a long list of supportive locals, organisers of the charity auction at the Snobs Creek Bar and Grill were hoping to raise enough to help young athlete Levi travel to the North Island Colgate Games in New Zealand and represent Murrindindi Little Athletics Centre and Little Athletics Victoria.

By the time the final bid was called, the community had delivered far more than anyone anticipated.

The auction’s success ensured: Full funding for Levi’s trip to the Colgate Games; new running spikes and Melbourne‑based training costs covered; leftover funds donated to the Foundation Murrindindi Disaster Fund to assist bushfire‑affected communities across the shire.

A team of 36 kids travelled to Tauranga on New Zealand’s North Island and competed over three days. Levi entered four individual events and two relays.

Levi gave a very impressive performance at the games.
