Man Walk visits Yarck for special outing

THE Alexandra Man Walk made their way out to Yarck on Friday, January 30, to meet up with and support the men of this heavily fire-affected community.

Many of the blokes from Alexandra travelled out to Yarck on the Murrindindi Shire Council community bus, where they met other walkers from the surrounding area at the Yarck Hall. Between 30 and 40 men attended the event, despite the warm weather.

They set off walking around 7.30am, making their way past the Giddy Goat Café and up into the back streets of Yarck, where parts of the ground were heavily scorched.

The men chatted and mingled as they walked up the slope to a spot where they could see across the valley to the orchards of Koala Cherries and the fire devastated hillsides.

Here they paused to talk and catch their breath before heading back down the slope in rapidly warming conditions.

Upon their return to the Yarck Hall, they gathered inside to enjoy a morning tea of scones and peaches and tea and coffee, and to cultivate further conversations.
