Angela Warren-Smith awarded National Medal

RESPONDING to 586 emergency call-outs, including 94 road crash rescues and 17 rescues from the cold waters of the Goulburn River, is only a snapshot of the service given by SES volunteer Angela Warren-Smith, who has been awarded the National Medal in recognition of 15 years of volunteering.

Angela joined the SES in 2010 and has played a key role in emergency response across the unit, serving as a Road Crash Rescue Team Leader and previously as Deputy Controller.

On Thursday, Angela was awarded the National Medal, a Commonwealth award recognising long and diligent service in organisations that protect life and property, including emergency services.

The medal acknowledges sustained commitment, professionalism and reliability over many years, and recognises the significant personal sacrifice involved, particularly for volunteers who balance emergency response with work, family and community life.

Alexandra SES Deputy Controller Peter Weeks said Angela has been heavily involved in complex and demanding operations.
