ONCE again the weather was fine, warm and mainly sunny for all golfers last week at Alexandra Golf Club.

Twelve players teed it up for last Tuesday’s stableford round, and once again it was Bill Wind who came out on top, his 37 points just enough to give him the win, with Bruce Colville second, also on 37. Brad Newton was third with 35.

Graeme Emmerson took the nearest the pin on seven, Steve Darmody claimed 17 and 18 went to John Mosley. Darms and Emmo also won a rundown voucher, along with John Greatorex.

Last Wednesday was the Annual Ladies’ Pink Ball Day, which involves a system of scoring that no mere male could ever comprehend, so I’ll make no attempt to explain.

Suffice to say that the Pink Ball winners were Helen Findlay, Marg Fahey and Bron Howell. The best individual score of the day belonged to Marg, who had 38 points. Donna Meggitt was second and Helen third, both with 34 points.

Nearest the pins went to Marg on five, and to Donna on 12 and 18, and the winner of the nine-hole competition was Barb Doyle with 17.

As is traditional at Easter time, last Saturday’s competition was a two-person ambrose.

Sponsored by Burnsie’s Pizza, and attracting a field of 20, the event teed off at 11am. Fittingly, the winning team was made up of… by Dave Silverman
