Seymour 10/124 defeated Alexandra 10/87

THE weekend saw the final game of the 2023/2024 home and away season for cricket. Unfortunately, Alexandra A grade did not make this years finals however there have been some very promising signs going forward into the next couple of years with some great performances from our junior stock coming through.

As there was no chance of making the finals and it being the final game of one of Alexandra’s finest players and administrator in Scott Whitehead it was proposed as a sign of recognition to tireless work not just for the club but the competition as a whole to have playing alongside Scott his daughter Emma and his father Ken who was also brought out of retirement for this game.

To keep the family affair going Darren Waixel played his last game with Matty Waixel with Jess nudging up on the scorer’s table with Jess nudging up on the scorer’s table with ever reliable Bron Leary and just to complete the family affair young Dan Crane saddled up for a last game with his son Josh.

On with the cricket. A game where Alexandra really were not expected to be competitive against Seymour at Seymour, quite the opposite happened.
