Eildon Pondage parkrun celebrates 25 weeks

THE Eildon Pondage parkrun reached a milestone on Saturday, with the 25th weekly event held in frosty but brilliantly sunny conditions.

Twenty walkers, joggers and runners took part in the 5km course at the Lower Pondage, supported by eight volunteers.

Since starting in March, more than 400 people have joined in, with many regular locals from Alexandra, Thornton and Eildon alongside visitors from Melbourne, regional Victoria and even interstate.

Over that time, 57 different volunteers have pitched in to keep the event running.

Event Director Anna Paix said the milestone was a proud moment for the community. “It was exciting to get the Eildon Pondage parkrun started in March, and now that we’re through winter and the weather is warming up, it’s the perfect time to come along and give parkrun a go.”

Fellow Event Director Robyn Archer highlighted the role of volunteers.
