Fatal collision near Yea

Police Media have advised that Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision south of Yea this afternoon.

“It is believed two cars collided on Melba Highway around 5pm.

“Sadly, the driver of one of the vehicles, a woman who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

“The female driver of the other vehicle was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

“The exact cause of the collision is yet to be determined and investigations continue.

Police will prepare a report for Coroner and ask that anyone who witnessed the crash, or who may have dashcam footage, call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au

It is expected that the Melba Highway will be closed for some time this evening.
