THE weather was just about perfect for golf this week, cold mornings leading into warm, still, very pleasant days.

Thus, it was on Tuesday, as 11 players teed off at noon on a course which still has plenty of run in it, and, for the second week running, it was James Fulton who took the top spot with 35 points.

If this keeps up we may have to find him a job where he doesn’t get Tuesdays off. Second was Brad Newton with 31, and Leo Dynes was third, also with 31.

Brad claimed nearest the pin on seven, and 17 went to Bill Wind. Bill also scored a rundown voucher, as did Russell Purcell and Ross Thompson.

On Wednesday morning, eight ladies entered to compete for the May Monthly Medal. In the end, though, there will have to be a play-off for the medal, as both Marg Fahey and Judy Pearson returned nett 69’s.

Marg was declared the winner on the day after a countback, and third place went to Sue Greatorex with a nett 75.

Judy had the fewest putts with 27, and Bron Howell was the nine hole winner. Nearest the pins went to Sue on two, Helen Findlay on five and Marg on 12.

The fine weather continued into Saturday, although those who teed off early had to contend with the Alexandra fog.

It’s interesting to note that none of the top scores came from the early starters.
