RIDE Marysville, a group which formed out of the Marysville Community Planning initiative in 2019, has been actively pursuing the implementation of more mountain biking tracks in the Marysville area.

Adam Johnston, co-ordinator of Ride Marysville, explained that they received some funding to develop the concept master plan.

It was presented to the community and engendered a lot of interest, including additional committee members.

The next stage is applying for funding to develop the feasibility study. They’ll be looking at the business case and the business structure, as well as the viability and benefits.

These have been touched on in the concept master plan, but will be delved into in greater detail in the feasibility study.

It’s estimated in the concept plan that the 24 tracks will cost around $9 million, however these costs may increase as time passes.

Adam suggested that these could be constructed in three stages, so there are people coming in during the development.

Asked whether there have been concerns about the mountain biking sector becoming over-saturated as ski mountains and small towns all look to develop tracks, Adam responded….
