OVER the weekend of June 8 and 9, the members of the Alexandra Horse and Pony Club embarked on an adventure into the beautiful bushland of Oxley Recreation Reserve, home to the Moyhu Pony Club.

Nestled in the heart of nature, this reserve offers fantastic amenities for both equine enthusiasts and campers alike.

Participants were challenged to approach fences accurately, with markers placed at different positions of the fences to test their skills.

The junior group had their share of fun, learning safety protocols and group riding etiquette, with some experiencing a competitive cross country course for the first time.

Spectators were entertained by the small ponies antics at times, but this did not stop the junior showcasing improvement in their knowledge, balance, and confidence.

Sunday brought riders of all levels together for a leisurely trail ride through the undulating countryside, with parents joining in on horseback or foot, making it a true family affair.

The exceptional facilities at the reserve, including horse yards, a wash bay, sand arenas, clubhouse, playground, and essential amenities, made the weekend comfortable for all.

Shona’s coordination of food, with nibbles platters, salad wraps, party pies, locally sourced pizzas, and bacon and egg rolls, was a highlight.
