A blackout is currently impacting a wide area of Murrindindi Shire, including Alexandra, Thornton, Acheron and Yarck. A representative from Ausnet has provided an update.

They said that crews are heading out to the site now, to investigate the cause of the outage. They believe that an excavator, not associated with Ausnet, has done some damage to the lines.

On the outage website, the estimated time for the power to be returned is 11.30pm, however it may be earlier depending on the work required.

The representative suggested that people keep an eye on the Ausnet Outage Tracker for updates.
