Rink wins but overall losses for Alexandra Bowls Club

PENNANT round three for the Alexandra Bowls Club was marked by some good wins by individual rinks but unfortunately overall losses across the three games. Midweek Division Four played Dookie at home. Saturday Division Three who played away to ladder leaders Shepparton Park lost the game. Division Five travelled to Seymour VRI and lost the game by eight shots.

Midweek Division Four played Dookie at home. Graeme Matthews (Skip), Clive Murphy, Denice Chisholm and Luke Chapple began well picking up five shots on the first end. They led 10 to nil by end five. At end 12 they were 18 to five up.

However, by end 18 they trailed 18 to 19. Not to be deterred the Alexandra rink won the last end and won 21 to 20.
John Blamey (Skip), Bob Mayfield, Marty Manning and Christine Mayfield had a close game.They were 11 all on end 11 but trailed 18 to 11 on end 14. But had reduced the margin to be 14 to 18 on end 16. The final score was Alexandra 18 to Dookie 21.

Meanwhile Doug Cooper (Skip), Trevor Stewart, Peter Collyer and Ian Franklin lost 11 to 34. Dookie won the game 75 to Alexandra 50.There was no game last Tuesday but Alexandra will be at home against East Shepparton when play resumes.

Last Saturday Division Three travelled to Shepparton and played in quite warm conditions, exacerbated by the complete lack of shade at one end of the rink. They lost the game by four shots overall. There was one winning rink.

Ian Harper (Skip), Tim Langmead, Ken Argent and Saxon Langmead won 23 to 19. It was seven all on end nine, 10 all on end 13 and 14 all on end 15. A very timely five shot pickup on end…
