Rotary Club working towards long term support

DARRYL King, president of the Rotary Club of Yea, spoke last week about the club’s immediate response to the fire emergency.

He said, “We responded quickly to Yea Community House where they needed cash in their bank account urgently for medical supplies to get up to the people at Highlands. So straight off a quick donation where we donated $2000. We will look at it when needed.”

The Rotary Club of Yea and District are looking now towards supporting in the longer term, over the next month, year, etcetera.

Darryl said, “The club will be supporting a lot of different groups in what they need. We’re not doing physical stuff at the moment.

It’s more so monetary and donations.” He added that the club is also having discussion about moving forward with supports.

Daryl also worked on getting petrol to Caveat.

The club, particularly Darryl and Tony, also cooked hamburgers and sausages for the strike teams in Yea until the Salvation Army came into place….
