Eastern Hills 4/58 defeated Alexandra 8/55

THE Alexandra under 13 cricketers made the trek to Seymour last Saturday to play in the SDCA Grand Final, the game was played on the Kings Park number two oval. The kids were excited and looked forward to playing. Eastern Hill had beaten the Redbacks during the minor rounds and the Redbacks had beaten Eastern Hill. Eastern Hill finished top of the ladder and the Redbacks second so the two best teams had made it through.

Redbacks skipper, Lucas Crane, won the toss and elected to bat first in light of the damp outfield and the toll that would take on the ball.

Dusty Fitzpatrick and Logan Conway opened the batting for Alexandra. With the score on six, Logan was dismissed for three, caught by B Loweke off the bowling of C Delia. Harrison Christie came in at three and with Dusty, put on a good partnership of 29 before Harrison was out for 14, bowled by B Brown. After nine overs Alexandra were 2/36.

Lucas came in at four but couldn’t repeat last week’s heroics, dismissed for six to a good catch by H Dorria off B Brown. JJ Dimech came in at number five and he too couldn’t repeat his good performance of last week, being caught by H Dorria off L Brown for one. The Redbacks were in a bit of strife at four for 44 off 11 overs.

Unfortunately for the Redbacks, the remaining four wickets fell quickly and their innings finished up at 8/55 off 16.4 overs. B Lane picked up three of the…
