Yarck fire brought under control

David Cotterill, commander in District 12 CFA, provided an update on the fire in Yarck this afternoon.

The fire started just before 1pm and was brought under control at around 3.15pm. It occurred on a private property to the north of Yarck, along the highway.

21 CFA vehicles attended the incident and one helicopter. Support was also received from DELWP, which sent six vehicles and one dozer.

The fire burnt approximately 150 acres before it was brought under control. It is believed to have started following a farmer conducting a burn off on Monday, the first day that the fire restrictions eased. It is believed that the fire reignited and spread.
